Agreement
By using Steve's Outpost you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the site. The site is operated by Type 5 Marketing LLC.
The content is editorial opinion
Everything on this site is our opinion, formed from published manufacturer specifications and the arithmetic we show on the page. We have not tested these products. That is stated on every roundup and explained in full on the methodology page. Nothing here is a warranty, a guarantee of performance, or professional advice of any kind.
Specifications change without notice. Manufacturers revise models, quietly substitute materials, and update ratings. Always confirm the current specification with the manufacturer before a purchase where the number matters.
Prices
Prices shown are pulled from Amazon's API and carry the date they were checked. They go out of date quickly, they vary by region and seller, and we remove any figure older than 48 hours rather than display it. The price on Amazon at checkout is the only price — we cannot honor, match or reinstate anything shown here.
Affiliate links
Most product links here are affiliate links and we earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Full details on the affiliate disclosure page. Your purchase is a contract between you and the retailer; we are not a party to it, cannot access your order, and cannot assist with returns, refunds, shipping or warranty claims.
Safety — read this one
Some of the equipment covered here can cause serious injury if misused. Specifically:
- Knives and edged tools cut people as readily as material.
- Vehicle recovery equipment stores enormous energy under load. A failed strap, shackle or recovery point becomes a projectile. Never exceed a rated working load, never attach to a tow ball or an unrated point, and never stand in the arc of a loaded line.
- Roof loads must respect your vehicle's published dynamic and static roof load ratings. Those figures come from your owner's manual, not from us and not from a forum.
- Shooting accessories are covered here as accessories only. Nothing on this site is instruction in the safe handling of a firearm, and none of it substitutes for qualified training and the four universal safety rules.
- Backcountry equipment can fail. Temperature ratings, R-values and waterproof ratings are laboratory figures obtained under controlled conditions and do not guarantee your outcome in the field.
You are responsible for using equipment safely, within its ratings, and in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Legal compliance is yours
Knife blade lengths, carry methods, hunting equipment, trail camera use, hearing protection requirements and vehicle modifications are all regulated differently by state, county and municipality. We describe products; we do not advise on whether they are lawful where you are. Check your local law before you buy and before you carry.
No firearms
This site does not sell, list, link to or facilitate the transfer of firearms, receivers, ammunition or any regulated part. The shooting-gear section covers accessories only.
